VISUAL DISORDERS

Myopia

SYMPTOMS

Far vision not perfect, but from close, yes.

SOLUTIONS

Correct myopia with glasses or contact lenses with concave lenses (-).

These lenses are thicker at the edge than at the center and give a smaller image.

Hyperopia

SYMPTOMS

Blurred vision from far and near. The accommodation allows the hyperopic to compensate, in all or in part, his ametropia.

Visual fatigue.

SOLUTIONS

Correct hyperopia with glasses or contact lenses with convex lenses (+).

These lenses are thicker at the center than at the edge and give a bigger picture.

Astigmatism

SYMPTOMS

It gives distorted images from far and near.

Inability to distinguish certain letters.

SOLUTIONS

A toric (or cylindrical) glass re-establish the correct perception of the axes.

The thickness at the edge of the lens differs from one axis to the other.

Presbiopia

SYMPTOMS

Vision clear from far, but blurred for close vision. Headache.

From the forties, the crystallin loses its elasticity and can no longer accommodate to see nearby objects.

SOLUTIONS

Like hyperopia, correct presbyopia with glasses with convex lenses (+).

Or, with progressive lenses, correct vision from far, intermediate and close;

Or, with bifocal lenses, correct vision from far and near.
